Feast of Food, to be held in the Norwood Hall, Marlborough College on Sunday October 22 from 10 am to 4 pm, is celebrating its twentieth anniversary. Organised by Cancer Research UK Marlborough Fundraising Group all profits go straight to Cancer Research. The Marlborough group have raised a staggering £888,000 over twenty years and are keen to make it a million!
Growing in popularity over the years, the event now hosts over 60 exhibitors. Anne Deucher told marlborough.news: “We really have a fantastic array of exhibitors. There’s Wallace’s Giant Pork Pies, excellent for the festive season, Gastro Nicks who search for small producers of very nice, really delicious wines, Taylor’s Bakery who offer a wonderful array of traditional breads to name but a few.”
“There are plenty of stalls offering gifts such as Chapman’s who sell British made rugs and throws. The Café Cancer Research is open all day offering freshly made sandwiches, homemade cakes, hot and cold drinks and light lunches. There is free parking and disabled access. Entry is by a minimum donation of £3, children under 12 are free. It really is a day out for all the family.”
Feast of Food also incorporates Marlborough Apple Day. Members of the public are able to bring their apples to be pressed by Richard Paget of My Apple Juice. There will also be fun fruit games, a fruit tree clinic and apple related stalls.
Cancer Research are grateful to their sponsors and to Rick Stein who is offering a prize draw. The prize is a two night stay at the Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant in Padstow.
Anne Deucher and her team work hard all year to organise the Feast of Food and ‘A Marlborough Christmas’. This event will be held on December 16th this year, also in the Norwood Hall. Each event raises between £10,000 and £12,000. The proceeds from a Marlborough Christmas are divided between Cancer Research UK, Brighter Futures Radiotherapy Unit and Prospect Hospice.
“We are a really vibrant group,” commented Anne. “But we are always looking for more people to join us.”
Another Cancer Research fund raising event is the Doll’s House Sale on October 29th at Shaw Farm, Lockeridge organised by Pat Cutworth, a renowned miniaturist and her team.
