Hard on the heels of one of Marlborough’s perceived major problems – parking – is the other – housing needs, especially for young people. On Tuesday evening next week (24 October) at 7pm there will be another public meeting at the Town Hall, this time with consultants Cobweb Consulting presenting the findings of the recently conducted Housing Needs Analysis.
When the public consultation for the Marlborough Area Neighbourhood Plan (MANP) was completed recently there were overwhelmingly two areas of greatest concern to those who responded – parking and affordable housing for young people.
Whilst the MANP Steering Committee employed People and Places to conduct the parking study (findings presented last night – 16 October), Cobweb Consulting, a team of experienced social and housing policy researchers were contracted to compile a ‘Housing Needs and Requirements Study’ with a view to to provide a robust evidence base to inform policies being developed for the Neighbourhood Plan.
The full analysis can be downloaded from the home page of the MANP website, accessed by clicking here.
As with the independent Parking Survey, this report should provide detailed evidence and expert analysis for the MANP Steering Committee to produce recommendations for a way forward towards a Marlborough housing policy, produced by the town, for the town which may (or may not) conflict with Wiltshire Council (or even Government) policy and expectations.
