Yesterday, Friday 22 June, Marlborough’s recently rejuvenated Youth Centre on St Margaret’s Mead took posession of a new table tennis table, fully equipped with a stock of bats and table tennis balls. Provided by Marlborough’s Rotary Club, President Cedric Hollinsworth was there to hand the bats, balls and table over to Town Mayor and leading light behind the revitalised Centre, Councillor Lisa Farrell.
“We are very pleased to be supporting this excellent venture” said Cedric. ”It represents another example of our support for the community in Marlborough, and we will be continuing to support the work of the centre going forward.” he added.
“Rotary have been incredibly supportive of our efforts to provide a great centre for Marlborough’s youth” said Mayor Lisa. They, along with many other organisations, groups and individuals have made this possible but we still have a long way to go”.
Marlborough Rotary are actively involved in raising money for local, national and international charities and the Youth Centre is a great example of where the money raised goes.
Notably they provide the town’s Christmas Tree every year and also book Santa for his appearance in the grotto at the Town Hall every Christmas on Light Switch-On day.
