George Johnson BEM, one of Marlborough’s most popular and well known characters was given the respect of the Town and The College earlier this morning when his coffin was carried on a vintage fire engine from the Fire Station in The Parade, along the High Street (stopping at The Polly, where he helped save a family from the disastrous fire in 1966), to Court at The College Court where they paid their last respects.
