MantonFest is being postponed. Originally scheduled for 27 June it has been provisionally moved to the weekend of the August Bank Holiday, Saturday 29, assuming the current crises has subsided sufficiently by then. If not, then along with just about every other event or activity planned for this year, 2020 becomes 2021.
Organiser Roger Grant announced the decision to postpone earlier today (Wednesday 25 March), saying “Due to the outbreak of Covid19 I am afraid MantonFest will have to be postponed. Hopefully we will be able to hold it on the 29th August (bank holiday weekend). By then I hope most of the restrictions will be over. The line-up will be the same.”
He noted that the decision to announce the postponement had been held over so that the planned line-up could be guaranteed on the new date, so Marlborough and Manton can still resound to Blondie tribute ‘Dirty Harry’, supported by a line-up including the Swinging Blue Jeans (again), favourites Barrelhouse, Legend (Bob Marley tribute), Ex-Men and Manton’s own Skedaddle.
Roger added that all tickets would be held over to the new date, or even to June 2021 if the crisis was still gripping the nation, but refunds would be possible. He further added “I know this will a disappointment to many, but I am determined to hold it this year, after all it is our 10th anniversary and the charities we support will need our help even more after these difficult times. Let us hope it is all over by August and we can have a party like no other.
Tickets are available from the MantonFest website.
