Town Councillors have considered (July 23) responses to the consultation held at Marlborough St Mary’s on the plans to upgrade of the play area in Coopers Meadow.
Councillor Dow reported that there had been “Hugely positive feedback from the consultation.”
It gave rise to two suggestions, which needed a decision from the full council meeting: should the new equipment include monkey bars and a roundabout?
Opinions were divided on the roundabout – which would add £3,798 pounds to the costs and involve a re-positioning of much of the equipment. The monkey bars could be added to one of the towers – at the lesser cost of £897.
Councillors voted in favour of the monkey bars, but against the roundabout – much to Councillor Castle’s dismay.
The contract for the project has been awarded to Creative Play (UK) Limited. And the area should be ready for an opening ceremony sometime after October 26.
