The Rick Stein restaurant in Marlborough High Street is hosting a special coffee morning to raise funds for the Cotswold House anorexia unit at Savernake Hospital.
From 9.30 am to 11 am on Saturday, March 30 customers can treat themselves to coffee and cake and at the same time raise money for Cotswold House. A minimum donation of £5 is suggested.
Cotswold House helps adult patients suffering from severe eating disorders like anorexia who have been admitted to the unit at Savernake Hospital because they have reached a dangerously low weight.
Kevin Chandler is Head Chef at Rick Stein’s Marlborough: “It’s very important to us to support groups in the area and our customers were in no doubt that Cotswold House was a brilliant cause deserving of our backing.”
Becky Deane is an Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor at Cotswold House: “We are absolutely delighted and feel so lucky to have been selected. It’s such a fantastic opportunity to raise money for Oxford Health Charity to support our patients. Thank you to Rick Stein and thank you to everyone who suggested us.”
Patients are offered a range of treatments to help them learn strategies and coping mechanisms in order to overcome their condition.
In addition to psychological therapies there are a full range of therapeutic activities including: shopping and meal preparation, art and craft, gardening and enterprise groups – not all funded by the NHS.
Becky Deane: “All these activities are crucial elements of the support offered to allow patients to rebuild confidence in managing areas of their life which have been severely impaired during their illness.”
