Marlborough’s Slater Music School have donated £500 to the new Marlborough St Mary’s school for the provision of music equipment. The cheque was handed over to MSM Head teacher Anne Schwodler by Stuart Slater on 26 April at a full school assembly.
The assembly included performances by a number of MSM’s drum students who performed in front of the whole school to celebrate both the donation and also the progress made by the young drummers.
Slater Music Schools founder, Stu Slater said: “We are very grateful to Anne and MSM for allowing us to create an amazing drumming community at the school, and it is fantastic to see so many children progressing so well under (teacher) Ben Dumpleton’s tutelage.” He added. ” We hope the money may help encourage more students to enjoy the rewards that music brings, not just the theory and ability to play; but confidence, self-belief, identity, peer respect, and the wider educational outcomes.” “At Slater Music School we believe that music is important to help children as they journey through their formative years;and also to help adults realise some long held dreams!”.
Slater Music School was established in 2003 and has grown to include 5 teachers.
